How far back can you claim VHI expenses?
Vhi Healthcare outpatient claims must be submitted within 3 months of the end of the policy year. Vhi may, at their own discretion, allow claims that are submitted outside of the 3 month limit.

Does my VHI automatically renew?
If you are happy with your policy as is, you don’t need to do anything. Your policy will automatically renew unless you inform us otherwise. If you have concerns or questions or are thinking of changing your policy at your next renewal, please read our Frequent Questions section.
What does subject to excess mean?
An excess is the first part of any insurance claim that you have to pay yourself. An inpatient excess is the amount you might pay on private hospital claims. It’s important to note that you will only ever pay an excess if you go to hospital. This means you’re not paying for something you might not use.
Can you claim expenses without a receipt?
HMRC rules state that expenses can be claimed provided they are wholly and exclusively for the purposes of your contract. Expenses can potentially be claimed if they are not receipted but they must be genuine business expenses which you have actually incurred.

What do I do if my health insurance is too expensive?
If you’re not eligible for lower costs on a health plan because your income is too high, you can still buy health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace®. You can also get insurance other ways — through a private insurance company, an online insurance seller, or an agent/broker.
Can I change health insurance in the middle of the year?
You can always make multiple health insurance plan selections during open enrollment, as long as you complete the final plan change by the end of open enrollment. For 2021 coverage, open enrollment ended on December 15, 2020 in most states, although it extended into January in some states.

VHI and Laya both ask you to download a claim form, print it out, sign it and post it along with your original receipts. With Aviva, for hospital claims, you can download a form and post it along with your receipts, but for outpatient and day-to-day claims, you don’t need to fill in a form – just send in the receipts.

Do you have to keep receipts for VHI?
According to the VHI website, the detailed claim documentation that they send you back is sufficient for Revenue purposes as evidence of your expenses. I always photocopy the receipts anyway before making a claim. Cool, thanks for the response. You have to keep your receipts for 6 years for audit purposes.
How much can I claim from VHI for GP visits?
If the original poster has 15 GP visits then they can probably claim €750 – €1 from VHI. They may also have some limits on the number of visits per person or time period. Again check the policy. On my VHI policy, the excess is 1 euro, and I get 20 euro per visit, so well worth claiming at the end of the year.
