Do you have to live on campus at SFA?
If SFA denies your off-campus permit application, you will be required to live on campus. You may want to explore our residence halls now just in case!
Are SFA dorms open?
SFA residence halls will remain open throughout the Thanksgiving break, but campus dining facilities will be closed. In most cases, fall 2020 classes will be conducted remotely following Thanksgiving break. Visit the Campus Recreation website for the most up-to-date facility hours.
Is SFA having in person classes?
We will have on-campus, face-to-face classes, and full housing and dining options will be available so students can enjoy the vibrant experience for which SFA is well known. We’ll also have expanded online offerings and more accelerated (eight-week) options than ever before.
Is there housing at San Francisco State University?

How to apply for student housing in San Francisco?
The following License Agreement options are available: Log into the housing portal using your SF State ID number and password. Sign the License Agreement and pay the Initial Fee. After completing the application, click to accept the terms of the License Agreement and pay the $200 initial fee.
Do you have to live on campus to get housing?
While living on campus is not required, it is also not guaranteed. The Housing Office highly recommends students complete all steps of the housing application and submit it as soon as the housing portal opens in order to increase their chances of obtaining a space and selecting your preferred room type.
How many roommates can you have at San Francisco State?
Please Note: For 2021-2022 housing, double & triple room types will include a maximum of 2 people per room. Due to the pandemic, roommate/apartment-mate selection will not available for summer 2021 and 2021-2022 housing. Apply for admission to San Francisco State University at CalState Apply.
