Where should a Cycle Stop Valve be installed?
The CSV (Cycle Stop Valve) should be installed downstream of the pump on the pump side of the pressure tank / pressure switch. Everything pumped needs to go through the CSV before it goes anywhere else. Any and all water outlets have to be downstream of the CSV valve.
How long does a Cycle Stop Valve last?
This means that some will last 14 years and others only last two years. For the average homeowner it is usually the number of times the pump cycles on and off that determines how long the pump and motor will last.
How does a constant pressure valve work?
The pressure is held constant by the use of a spring-loaded diaphragm assembly, which senses the pressure on the load side, and modulates the opening in the main flow orifice, as the demand varies. Constant pressure valves are plumbed between the pump and the tank/pressure switch.
How long will a pressure tank last?
First, the quality of the pressure tank itself. Cheaper pressure tanks will last 5 years, while high quality pressure tanks could last up to 30 years. If the water is clean and the tank is properly sized it should be lasting an average of 15 years.
Is a larger pressure tank better?
When it comes to pressure tanks, bigger is almost always better. Larger tank = larger drawdown (actual amount of water stored)larger drawdown means longer run time and therefore less cycles, extending the life of the motor. Most manufacturers recommend a minimum run time of one minute for efficient motor cooling.
What is the purpose of a cycle stop valve?
The function of a Cycle Stop Valve (CSV) is to: Provide variable flow and constant pressure control superior to VFD systems. Replace large pressure tanks and water towers. Provide minimum flow required to cool the pump and/or motor.
What is a constant pressure system?
As you might have guessed, a constant pressure system is a piece of equipment that makes sure your water pressure always maintains a certain rate. It doesn’t matter if you are watering the lawn, running a dishwasher and flushing a toilet at the same time—your shower or sink will deliver water at a consistent pressure.

What kind of tape do you use to install cycle stop valves?
Install using teflon tape on all threads. Four to seven wraps of teflon tape is usually sufficient. All connections should be water tight. Be sure the adjustment stem is loosened counter clockwise almost all of the way out (You might have to loosen the lock nut if it is tight).
What is the correct order of csv1a installation?
Turn off power to pump and drain system. The CSV1A must be installed prior to any tee offs. Correct order of installation should be: Pump – CSV1A – All other outlets including the tank/switch. The only valve allowed between the pump and the Cycle Stop Valve is a check valve. (Always keep in mind this is a pump control valve.
How is the pressure of the csv1a valve adjusted?
Wait a few moments after each adjustment for the valve to react and the pressure to level off. Each full round on the adjustment stem is approximately 13 PSI adjustment. The CSV1A is adjusted by turning the adjustment stem clockwise to increase downstream pressure and counter clockwise to decrease downstream pressure.
