Are your pods recyclable? Unfortunately, no they are not. As our pods are made of a combination of plant based materials, they are certified commercially compostable, versus recyclable.
How do you recycle K-cups?
If you’re not sure whether your K-Cup pods are recyclable, check the bottom for a recycling symbol with the number 5. To recycle these pods, peel off the aluminum foil top. Toss the grounds, aluminum top, and paper filter, and recycle the plastic pod shell.
Are there biodegradable K-cups?
When left whole, K-Cups® pods are not biodegradable, as their plastic and aluminum elements will not break down naturally, and the organic material is sealed inside. However, by separating the coffee pod, you can compost its leftover coffee grounds and paper filter.
