Can I use Versabond for a shower?

Versabond will work just fine. Your tiles will happily stick to the wall. They will want to slide DOWN the wall until they set, but that’s why you support your tile on a ledger and put spacers between the rows of tile.

Is Versabond waterproof?

It isn’t degraded by water, and does resist the flow of water (somewhat), but definately does not “waterproof” any tile installation the way a membrane will.

Can I use modified thinset for shower walls?
