- New termite damage.
Can termites disappear on their own?

How long do termites take to get rid of?
Length of Treatment Usually it only takes 1 day for the professional exterminator to do the job. Most products should protect against re-infestation for up to 5 years, but once you have found a termite infestation, it is a good idea to have your home inspected yearly to be sure they are not re-colonizing.
Is it normal to see termites after treatment?
You may notice winged termites, called swarmers, after your home has received a thorough termiticide application. This can be a normal occurrence due to the biology of these insects. They can continue to swarm in the same location for three to four weeks after a chemical application has been applied. This is normal.

How can you tell if you have termite infestation?
If you look carefully, you may be able to find clues of termite infestations, even if you’re unable to see the insect itself. What should I do if I find termite in my house?
Address these spots by examining them for signs of termites regularly, get rid of any standing water in the area, and treat the wood with termite prevention like soil treatments that repel termites. Avoid spreading mulch too close to your home.

Termites burrow into the wood in an honeycomb pattern without coming closer to the surface; this is one of the problems why early detection is difficult. As they continue to burrow they make the wood significantly weaker and results in hollow sound and sagging floors.
Can a termite swarm be a sign of an existing problem?
Even if you haven’t seen the swarm itself, the tiny winged insects crawling around the house can be a sign of the existing problem. Especially if you take into consideration that the winged termites appear only in the fully developed colonies, that are 3-5 years old.
