Propagating String of Heart Plants Cuttings with at least two internodes on them usually take root in anywhere from a fortnight to two months.
How often should you water your heart chain?
Your Chain of Hearts does not need a lot of water. Although the Chain of Hearts isn’t technically a succulent, you can often treat it like one! During the dry months your plant needs to be watered every two to three days. But it is incredibly important that your plant dries out completely between waterings.

As an added benefit, cutting the chain will encourage bushier growth, as the chopped chain will send new growth out on the nodes further up. Another trick to encourage new vines is to take a vine & loop it around on the top of the pot, ensuring the nodes have contact with soil.

What’s the best way to grow string of Hearts?
There are two good ways that you can propagate String of Hearts. You can choose whatever is easiest for you! The first way is simply to take stem cuttings and place them in water. This is how I propagated the plant I have shown above. After a few weeks, the cuttings grew roots and then I simply potted them up!
