Is the transpyloric plane the same as subcostal plane?
The transpyloric plane is the most superior of the horizontal planes. Usually this plane marks the level of the first lumbar vertebra. A line through the most inferior point of the rib cage gives the position of the subcostal plane, which marks the level of the third lumbar vertebra.
Why it is called Transpyloric?
