What do Florida grubs turn into?
Within a month, the eggs hatch into larvae called white grubs. Those grubs, just like human teenagers, are voracious and are always eating. Unfortunately, their favorite snacks happen to be the roots of our tough Florida grasses.
What do Florida grubs look like?
All white grubs rest in a curled C-shape and are about ½ to 2 inches long; chafer grubs are on the small end of that range. Initial, mild damage from the grubs will leave areas of turf yellow, which is a symptom that is hard to correctly diagnose.
How do you know you have grubs?
Signs of Grubs in Lawn
- Grass with damaged roots will begin to thin, yellow, and die.
- Irregular patches of brown grass will appear in random places in your lawn.
- Grass will feel very spongy and will pull up very easily.
- Grass will be very vulnerable to drought and other stressors.
Do grubs turn into butterflies?

What is the life cycle of a grub?

Are there white grubs on my Florida lawn?

There are a bunch of different scarab beetles that can be turf pests; “white grub” is a general term for all scarab beetle larvae.

Identifying Lawn Grubs. Late summer or early fall: Lawn grub damage is usually visible from late summer and peaking in the early fall. If you have irregular patches of grass that are brown and dry, check to see if a patch easily peels away from the soil.
What kind of animals will eat lawn grubs?
Lawn Grubs Attract Unwelcome Wildlife. Animals such as raccoons, skunks, moles and other rodents will feed on lawn grubs. They will strip away your grass or dig tunnels underneath in search for one of their favorite delicacies. Important note: Many of these animals including birds also dig your lawn to find earthworms.
