Is Barnard a party school?
Barnard is by no means a party school. We have our fun, but when we do, we go all out in a few nights rather than dragging it along a whole week of same old same old. Fraternities and sororities are not that big a deal.
Why is Barnard all female?
When Barnard was first founded in 1889, it provided women the opportunity to access the same quality education available to men across the street at Columbia. Columbia only admitted men at this time – and so did most of its peer institutions. Columbia did not admit women into its undergraduate college until 1983.
Is Barnard difficult to get into?
Barnard admissions is extremely selective with an acceptance rate of 12%. Students that get into Barnard have an average SAT score between 1340-1520 or an average ACT score of 31-34. The regular admissions application deadline for Barnard is January 1.
