What is a West B test?
The WEST–B is a test of basic knowledge and skills that candidates are required to take for admission to a Washington teacher preparation program and to work as an educator in Washington schools. The best preparation for this test is to have studied consistently throughout your preparation both before and in college.
What does West B stand for?
Washington Educator Skills Test – Basic
The Washington Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) created the Washington Educator Skills Test – Basic (WEST-B). The WEST-B is designed to ensure that individuals entering postsecondary education preparation programs have the academic skills required to succeed in those programs.
What is a good score on the West B?
In order to pass the WEST-B, test-takers must receive a score of 240 or more on each of the mathematics, reading and writing subtests. Test-takers receive a scaled score for each subtest. The lowest possible score that a person can receive on a subtest is 100, and 300 is the highest possible score.
Do I need to take the West B?
Taking the WEST–B is required for: Candidates applying for admission to state-approved educator preparation programs. Applicants certified out of state who are applying for a Washington State teaching certificate.
Can you use a calculator on the West B?
This section is composed of 60 multiple-choice questions. If you take this section without the other two sections, the time limit for the exam will be 2 hours. Personal calculators are prohibited and cannot be brought into your test. However, calculators will be provided for you during your test.
Do West B scores expire?
Your registration is valid for one year from the date of issue. If you do not schedule a test appointment and take your test within one year, or withdraw your registration within one year, your registration will expire and you will receive no refund or credit of any kind.
