What temperature can you put on granite?

Granite is easily resistant to heat up to temperatures of 480°F, and can even likely withstand temperatures up to 1,200°F. To prevent possible damage, avoid extreme changes in temperature, such as placing something cold on an area of a granite counter right after placing something hot on that area.
Can you melt granite?
If a rock is heated to a high enough temperature it can melt. In our lab we can heat granite to above 1000°C or 2000°F until almost all the crystals melt and dissolve together becoming a liquid.
Can you put a hot dish on a granite counter?

Can you put hot pans on marble countertop?
You cannot put hot pans on the marble countertops. Marble is softer than granite and quartz. So, if you put hot pots on the marble countertops, chances are your kitchen countertop color will change permanently. If the marble colors have become white or bright, then it’s important to become more careful about the kitchen countertop safety.
