I would recommend this book for ages 9 and up because there is a little bit of a war theme and a character’s history may frighten younger children but if those parts were taken out this could easily be for ages 7 and up.

At the end of the book Peter threw the toy to get Pax to go back in to the wild with the other foxes. Peter went all of that way and took all of that time to just let Pax stay in the wild.

One of the main reasons why I don’t think Peter will become “war-sick” is because of Pax. Peter is a young boy with a strong determination to find his best friend so I don’t think he will give up very easily.
