Why is there fuel in my air filter?
Gas leaks around the air filter usually indicate problems with valves inside your engine and how it is processing gas. Never attempt to start or operate an engine or machine that has a fuel leak.
Can a dirty air filter cause oil leak?
If the air filter is very dirty and the intake air flow is restricted by it the engine will pull oil and vapors out of the crankcase vent system and cause some oil leaks from the air charge hose connections.

A foam air filter or foam prefilter, however, must be coated with a light application of oil in order to trap dust particles. A filter oversaturated in oil, though, can leak some of that oil around the filter box, or it could get sucked into the carburetor, which gums up that device’s internal jets and needle valves.
Why is my air filter clogged with oil on my lawn mower?
An air filter consistently clogged with oil is most likely the result of turning the mower over the wrong way when you work on the blades underneath the mower deck. If you turn the mower over with the air filter down, the engine oil will leak out and into the filter, clogging it.
Why is oil coming out of my lawn mower muffler?
Sometimes it’s the unburned fuel that comes out of the muffler. It occurs because of the plugged air filter that doesn’t let air going into the piston. When the air cannot properly make the way to the pistons, the fuel remains unburned. Besides, the fuel fails to burn when the carburetor isn’t adjusted, or the float gets stuck inside it.
Where is the oil coming from on my riding mower?
When I pulled my mower out this evening, there was a mix of oil and gas puddled on the mowing deck with drip spots from the air filter and exhaust. Removing the air filter, it is covered in oil and fuel and more puddled in the air filter housing. There does not appear to be an ‘active’ leak.
Why does my lawn mower oil pump not work?
