The keyword research process is simple (and free):

  • Go to https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
  • Type in the target keyword or phrase you want to get suggestions for into the search bar. For example, you could type ‘WordPress SEO plugins’ to get related keywords
  • From the drop-down menu, select either web search, news search, image search, shopping search or YouTube search.
  • Select your preferred language and country. For instance, if you are in South Africa, you could select English/South Africa. This will generate keywords from Google South Africa (https://www.google.co.za/)

  • Click on the ‘Look Up’ button
  • The results show the cost per click (CPC), monthly traffic volume and competition level for each keyword. Ubersuggest even comes with filter boxes that can help modify your results further   
  • Once satisfied with the results, you can then export them as a Microsoft CSV file

Ubersuggest now fetches results from Keyword Planner tool without the need to login, and a future integration with Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools is in place.

The tool also supports features like competitor surveillance, to see, track and compare what keywords your competitors are using in their PPC and SEO strategy and many more cool add-ons in development.
